Thad Updates! A lot!

I think I hurt Brentai's feelings.

...I was going to parody his entire spiel about Steve from a few weeks back, but it turns out he's taken it down, so I can't really do it effectively.

At any rate, after reading Brent's spiel about his inability to find the uncorrupted X2 ROM, just to try my hand, I decided to look for it. And yes, I found it. And yes, I did it in ten minutes. ...Now, Brent is wrong on one point: I did not find it within ten minutes of reading his page. I found it within ten minutes of starting my search for it, which I didn't do until a day or two after I first read Brent's page.

At any rate, no, I'll not deny that my competitive spirit had a bit to do with it, but that's not to say that altruism played no part. And of course the "just for the sheer hell of it" quotient can't be discounted. For example, just to make the image on the left, I looked for saved states on Zophar's, found Zophar didn't have any saved states for X2 (presumably because nobody could successfully emulate it until recently), went to Paugh's page to get the password for the Sigma levels, played through up until I got to the Dragon Punch, saved the picture, and, just for good measure, saved my state and sent it into Zophar's.

I was mostly kidding when I gloated about it to Brent.

Anyway, I updated my Links Page...I added a snide remark about Luke, finally fixed the screw-up in the link to Sharkey, which I didn't fix until now because only one person besides me noticed it anyway, and added a link to that person (James)'s page.

James, incidentally, is the only person ever to use one of the banners from my Link Me page, which I've also updated with a printable flyer that, if I'm really really lucky, will spread my influence across the nation.

And, by popular demand (James'), I have gone through with what I mentioned last week and added How Capitalism Killed the Internet vs. YourGoingToHell.com. Enjoy!

Oh, and one more thing...Brad has informed me it's Dee Sniding, not desniding. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I was also going to make a joke about the fact that today's date is 9-11, but you'll have to settle for a brief mention of it instead.

Ego Trip

...First off, I noticed I accidentally had "00.09.04" down for the last two updates. I fixed the one that was actually from the 11th. (Maybe that's what Sharkey meant about embarassing myself...)

Links: Brad's old banner link kinda sucked, so I made him a new one. Also added a link to Celebrity Interview and, rather arrogantly I admit, moved my azrocky.com link to "People I Know". (Hey, unless you're Alex or possibly Crusoe, I know more of them than you do.) Finally, added a link to Alex's Xena Horror Princess Show. May God have mercy on us all.

How Capitalism Killed the Internet vs. YourGoingToHell.com: Added a couple piccies and Sharkey bitching me out.

Style Over Substance

The good news is, a new Tempe High: The Zelda Quest demo is up. The bad news is, this update is called Style Over Substance. I figured that, since it'd been about a month and a half, I might as well release a new version, but I locked out the third level because I don't think my development's actually caught up with it, if that makes any sense. Anyway, it more or less boils down to a bunch of new enemies.

Likewise, I've updated the Links page, but only insofar as I finally remembered to add BORDER=0 to my <IMG> tags. No new content.

Finally, I've updated How Capitalism Killed the Internet vs. YourGoingToHell.com, but it's most disappointing. <Aims camera up nose, starts sobbing> I'm sorry... <Goes on babbling in a heartfelt speech almost capable of saving the dumb piece of shit movie, but finally loses the audience once and for all when the camera inexplicably shifts angles>

I'm Betting Brent's The Only Person On the Goddamn Planet Who Actually Does This.

<1C> Remember when Musical Stories™ were once all the rage? No? Well hold onto your socks Joel Robinson, and read on!

The game is Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for the Sega Genesis. <2A> And there is a Level Select/Sound Test Code. After the game starts and the "Sega" logo displays, when the screen is black, hit UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, UP, UP, UP, UP. You'll hear a ring sound if it works. <34> However, if you're a pansy like me and can't hit the buttons fast enough, you might try using the Game Genie code AA6T-AAXC to achieve the same effect. ...Now go ahead and get your Genesis out of the closet, bust out Sonic 3, reread the preceding two paragraphs, and read on! (If you're too stupid to have figured it out yet, the bold, blue, bracket-enclosed numbers are the sounds you're supposed to hit at the corresponding sections.)

<09> Remember, kids, emulation is bad unless you have the original cartridge stowed in a box a hundred and fifty miles away because you're in college and why the hell would you want to bring your Genesis along! And no matter what Frank-N-Furter tells you, there is no such thing as the twenty-four-hour rule! ...That said, if you can legally emulate Sonic 3 and desire to do that rather than dust off your Genesis and search vainly for that damn RF switch, I suggest you give DGen a shot, because you can't hear the music if you're running it in a DOS window.

<15> At any rate, it's been awhile since I put any visible effort into the page. This is, of course, because I'm a college boy now, and I've been busy discovering my identity as a college boy. (<0B> Translation: I've been doing homework, playing Chrono Cross, and actually spending some time outside now that I live in a place where outside is under 120 degrees. And desniding. A lot. ...Well, okay, so maybe only a little.)

(<13> Desniding is Brad's word for the Mario Kart tournaments that've been taking place down the hall. If you want to know why the hell desniding, ask him. I don't think he can answer you either, but Lord knows I can't. ...Brad also purchased the dry erase board whose label is shown on the left, but I'm the one who noticed the amusing caption.)

<05> As I was saying, it's been awhile since I've put any visible effort into the page. However, as you may have noticed, I did cleverly include the adjective "visible". I have been working a good pace on Tempe High: The Zelda Quest; I'm done with the freshman year/first three levels. I'd upload another demo, but, well, I don't want to.

I'm also working on another project, but I'm not going to say what yet.

<19> I also pissed off a religious guy for comedic effect. I know it's been done before, but I may add a section devoted to my interchange with the inbred dickweed who runs yourgoingtohell.com. That's not a spelling error...well, it is, but it's not mine. The dumb fucker actually spent $45 to register your when he actually meant you're.

<1E> And now for a tangent on the evils of censorship. I caught The Shawshank Redemption on TBS (as seen on Thad's Enemies Page!), and one "clever" voice-over alteration really stuck with me: "A man who swam through a river and came out clean." Yeah, that's really ironic. People are such fucking idiots.

<1A> One unfortunate thing I've found out since coming to NAU is that we don't get the Arizona WB station here. Yes, WB is possibly the worst network on television, but in Arizona it has the syndicated eps of The Simpsons, as well as the entire Fox Kids line of shows. That means I can only see Simpsons once a week here...and Beast Machines not at all. I went down to the valley this weekend, and I intended to tape Beast Machines there...but I forgot. I'm currently downloading the ep from tfarchive.com, but that's just not the same. Primarily because I don't get the damn thing on tape.

<1B> Brad's got a CD burner. That's very practical because I've freed up a considerable amount of HD space by burning two CD's worth of original Transformers eps I'd downloaded from the aforementioned site.

I think I've hit my quota for this Stream...besides, Brad and Amy just walked in and I'm betting this looks indescribably stupid.

Games: Bought me a copy of Chrono Cross. And I've been desniding.

Books: The Silver Chair. Yeah, I know I didn't post when I was reading the first three, but I don't have to report every damn book I read. Hell, it's not like anybody actually cares.
